Dancing With the Stars News!!

August 6, 2008

Big news!!  We have some pretty good rumors about who will be starring in this season’s Dancing with the Stars!!

Toni Braxton, Kim Kardashian, Jewel’s boyfriend Ty Murray, Dan Marino, Lance Bass and Florence Henderson will all be competing,” an insider tells In Touch. “The cast is eclectic and diverse: We’ve got young, old, gay, straight, dance professionals and people who’ve never danced before. Some of the cast are already starting to work out and train, even though they won’t meet their dance partners for a few more weeks. It’s shaping up to be the most fun season yet!

So Excited!!

**Update**
Dan Marino says he will NOT be joining the cast (too bad! There could be all sorts of “Laces OUT Dan!” jokes!)

July 17, 2008

Well I was so excited for this day….but alas I am now sad.  We got a whole big SNUB for my favorite Friday Night Lights.  The one show who really needed the Emmy Nods.  Sigh — this will most likely be the end of FNL so enjoy it this season while it last.  Otherwise YEAH for Kristin Chenoweth, Matt Dillion, and everyone in John Adams.  BIG YEAH for American Idol & Ryan Seacrest (although secretly I think Jeff Probst should TOTALLY win for Survivior — he is the BEST host in the biz…)   I am also totally surprised Pushing Daises did not make the cut, I thought it would WIN jeeeze….

DWTS – semi finals!

May 13, 2008

Its been a long long month, so sorry for the pitifulness of my posts!  I fell asleep and missed Jason’s first dance, but I caught the rest.

Jason – As I said, missed the Quickstep, but caught the Paso.  It was really good, but I kept wondering if Edyta got hurt getting slammed into the ground!  Emmit Smith was looking on and smiling, cute!  They got a 9, 9, 9 on that one for a grand total of 55/60 (3rd place)

Marissa – First was the Quickstep.  It was good but boring.  Score: 9, 10, 9 (obviously the judges and I disagreed, but maybe I was still half-asleep).  Second was the Rhumba.  Yeah, it was cute and sexy, but not fab.  I think it’s time for her to go home.  Score for the Rhumba: 8, 9, 9.  Grand total = 53/60 (4th Place)

Christian – First dance was the Vianese Waltz to DMB’s “Satellite.”  Cheryl’s dress is WEIRD.  If I can find a pic, I will post later.  She literally looked like a Satellite, not sure that’s the point of the song!  The dance was very very pretty though!  Scores: 9, 9, 9.  Next, the Samba, the same dance where Christian injured his arm.  It was ok.  Not really the fun Samba, but ok.  Score: 10, 9, 10 and i feel like the judges are just being kind because of the arm.  Grand total = 56/60 (Second place)

Kristi – First up, Tango.  WOW, this is much better than the last time she did this one!  Lots of passion and really good steps.  Score: 10, 9, 10.  Next, the Jive, which they got a 30 on last time.  This one is cute, different than the last.  Mark is really bad at throwing a LOT of choreography at her and its sometimes too much.  That’s the case with that Jive.  Really good, but it looks like she is BARELY keeping up.  Score: 9, 9, 10.  Grand Total for First Place = 57/60

Dancing with the Stars – 100th Episode!

May 6, 2008

I love this point in the competition, when i see the opening credits and I’m like, Monica Seles was in this? haha (this is gonna be a long post!)

So first we get to see the greatest dances of the first 5 seasons:

10) Kelly Monaco and Alec’s free style – Yeah, she messes up a LOT!  The judges have gotten so much more harsh since then!  Len is so easy!  So is Carrie Anne!

9) Sabrina and Mark’s Paso – Yea, this really was exceptional.  I wasn’t a fan of her at the time, but she is so damn good!

8) Emmit and Cheryl’s Cha Cha – Oh I remember this, it made his season.  He was having SO much fun!!

7) Apollo and Julianne’s Quickstep – This was SO good!!!!!!  The characters they played were so cute and the dance looked like so much fun!  Plus he was spot on in every step; that so rarely happens in the quickstep on this show.

(PS this is also like a review of Bruno’s fruity comments, please let him bring out the “weapons of mass seduction” one!)

6) Joey Fatone and Kym’s Jive – This dance was so made for Joey (though if you have the DWTS workout video, you know its one of Kym’s favorites too!).  Another one where they are having so much fun!

5) Helio and Julianne’s Yellow Quickstep – Yeah this was better than her and Apollo.  Love the song, and it was so good and cute, plus, I loved The Mask!  He looks kinda like a Muppet, and it works with this song.  Plus the choreography was amazing!  HA this is the one where he kissed her!  Oh, how the rumors started!

4) Drew and Chery’s Free Style – ooooooh this was iconic for the show, agree with Carrie Anne.  I usually dislike Free Style’s, but this was so gooooood!!!!  Hmm Cheryl is as tan as the leather she’s wearing.  And I think she has has work done since – nose job, what?  Aww, his pregger’s wife and his bro are there!  Hahahah Brokeback Mountain the Musical, oh Bruno.

3) Stacey Keibler and Tony’s Samba – Oh I forgot how much i liked her, she was soooooo good. (I keep saying that, huh)  Not that this is much of a revelation, but her legs are amazing.  Haha this is the “weapon of mass seduction” dance!

2) Mel and Mak’s Paso – OMG this was the shiz.  I heart this song, and she made me want to be a dominatrix!  I cant wait to see them again later!  Yeah, this dance turns me on a wee bit, not sure if it’s for Mel or Maks!!!! hehehe!  Oh and i love how Maks makes fun of the judges, the eye rolls, I miss him so!!!!
Not sure what can top that last one . . (so many commercials, ughhh this is why i like watching it delayed on Tivo!)

The #1 Dance in Six Seasons . . . !

1) Mario Lopez and Karina’s Tango – This is the one dance this season I didn’t see that season!!!!  SEXY!!!  Ok, the end is boring, but probably technically perfect.

Elimination coming up! (sorry for no recaps – zonked out on pain meds for the back)  Read the rest of this entry »

Dancing with the Stars – Results

April 29, 2008

The dance to see again – Jason and Edyta’s Quickstep.  I haven’t seen this yet so yay!  Too cute; how such a giant man moves that well astounds me!

Jason is really excited to be in first place.

Ooooh the judges make an announcement: the couples can do ONE lift next week, as long as it is in character with the dance they are doing.  Hahaha cant beat them? Join ‘em!

Kristi and Mark are SAFE!

OK, NEXT week is the 100th Episode and when Maks is coming back.  Both equally important to me.

So Now They’re Not Broken Up?

April 29, 2008

Mario Lopez denies the break up.  Ok fine, whatever.  I think I just quit caring.  Check out the denial here.

Another DWTS break-up!

April 29, 2008

Mario (Lopez) and Karina have split up!!

Mario Lopez and Karina

Even though they never officially made it official, they are now officially breaking up.  “A source tells PEOPLE Smirnoff is moving out of Lopez’s digs.”

Dancing with the Stars – 2 Dances/1 Night!

April 29, 2008

So I watched most of the ballroom round at the gym and about half of the latin round at home, so this might not be the best recap.  I’ll add more later when I watch from Tivo.

Marissa and Tony
Tango:  Eh, I always thought there was a lot more anger in the Tango, not quite a Paso, but close.  This was kinda stale.
Rumba:

Christian and Cheryl
Viennese Waltz:  Very pretty, the judges are right – he has finally come into his own with this show and his ballroom skills are really improving
Samba:  I don’t know what dance it was but I did tune in to find out that Christian hurt his arm during some kind of catch with Cheryl.  For more information, check out this article with Cheryl.

Kristi and Mark
Viennese Waltz:  I LIKED the umbrella!! and I thought the whole thing was great.  Ok, she got a little out of control on some spins, but that spin to a drop thing was awesome!!  I thought it was cute and they told a great story.
Cha Cha:

Mario and Karina
Foxtrot:  I thought he did rather well!  The judges are so harsh on him and it really annoys me.  He hated doing the foxtrot, totally not his style, but I thought he did well with it!
Mambo:  Too cute!!! I was expecting much higher scores!!!  He did it so well, it was so natural!!!

Shannon and Derek
Tango:  Hahah ok the package before the dance was priceless.  He is trying to get her angry and passionate about the dance and she tells him he wont be happy about doing that when he goes home alone!!! HEHE!!  their tango was also kind of stale.  Why must this be boring?  Makes me miss Maks (WHO WILL BE BACK ON THE RESULTS SHOW!!!)
Mambo:  It should have been cute.  I really wanted it to be cute.  But it was stiff.  And awkward.  And not so good.  Sorry, guys!

Jason and Edyta
Quickstep:
Paso Doble:  HAHAHA the Monday Night Football Theme!!!  Jason kind of reminded me of Mario (as in Mario and Luigi and the Princess – mine and the BF’s Halloween costumes this last year!), it was a weird costume.  And Edyta looked like a Miami Dolphin’s cheerleader . . . who is about to become a slave to Jabba the Hut.  Reminded me a lot of the Star Wars themed costume from a few seasons ago with Joey Fatone.  Either way, it was a pretty good Paso.

And so, the leader board looks like this:
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska = 55/60
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas = 54/60
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani = 52/60
Mario and Karina Smirnoff = 51/60
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough = 51/60
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke = 46/60

Just a reminder, you have until 12 noon (EST?) today to get your votes in online!

DWTS Results

April 22, 2008

Ugh, the Group Dance again. Jason Taylor fugs it up bad! Ashlee Simpson sings, or attempts to. Not so good. But she looks good as a red head!! I hate when they use random pros to dance, i like seeing the ones we know!! Maks is back next week!!!! Also, next week is the 100th episode. Wow Shannon is a basket case!! Hahah they look more like a couple than ever!  Read the rest of this entry »

Shannon and Derek – Romance?

April 22, 2008

So, yeah, they were caught kissing.  Are they really involved?  Most people seem to think so.  Check out this article with its many links to all things Shannon and Derek related.  Interesting fact:  Shannon is supposedly dating a math teacher.  I’m guessing he does not do the rumba.

Whoo hoo!
Shannon and Derek

Dancing with the Stars – 7 remain!

April 22, 2008

The results show looks good for once – except Ashlee Simpson singing – and next week . . .

MAKS IS BACK!!!!!!!!!! WHO IS EXCITED!!!??!!!????!!!!

Tonight’s performances:  Read the rest of this entry »

DWTS, OTH coming soon!

April 21, 2008

So sorry for missing out last week!!  I was at at tradeshow in NC and didnt watch TV and then was recovering from said tradeshow.  I did manage to watch One Tree Hill, and will go back with my Tivo and watch and blog, and so sorry to Priscilla Presley!!  Look for tonight’s recap later!

Dancing With The Stars – Voted off

April 9, 2008

So I still havent seen more than half of the performances, but the two on the chopping block this week were Priscilla and Adam, both of whom I saw dance.  Priscilla’s Viennese Waltz was ok, though they did do a lift (but so have a few others, so why the lift-nazi comments now?).  Adam’s Paso was funny – Julianne sure can dance! – but it was kinda overkill.  Len’s comment: “You are such a lovable character that (we) just want you to do well, but unfortunately you’re not much of a dancer.” Ouch!

So the couple that had to dance their last dance was . . . Read the rest of this entry »

DWTS/Dance Wars Gossip

April 8, 2008

I watched half of DWTS last night at the gym, and noticed something interesting.  Remember Zach Guilford?  From Dance Wars?  The HOTTIE?  Who was engaged to Julianne Hough?  Yeah he was in the audience last night for Dancing with the Stars!  He was sitting right behind the judges, so everytime Len talked, you could see him!  Check it out after Julianne and Adam’s dance (hahah oh the unicycle!)

(At about 4:16 in, To Len’s right – technically over Len’s left shoulder.  the video is kinda crappy, but that’s definately him!!)

Interesting!  Anyone heard any news about them being back together?

DWTS – What you didnt see this week

April 2, 2008

Take a look at these posts from People.com – what we missed on Monday and Tuesday. I’m totally with Julianne – I would melt at seeing Gerrard Butler too! but I have to disagree on the whole Marissa Jaret Winokur thing – she has to find a balance!! Her jive WAS boring! If there ever was a time to get too excited over a dance, the jive was it!! And poor Steve, alter-ego has to go away now :(

Newsflash! Derek Hough was hospitalized last night due to a neck injury!! Hope he is ok!!!

DWTS – Week 3

April 2, 2008

Ok, this is going to be short – I’m sick and I’m trying to get out of town on vacation!  Plus, my training appt at the gym ran into Monday’s night’s performances, so I finally watched everything last night!  Read the rest of this entry »
